Kapo's gang was founded in January 1989. The eight members at the first meeting were John (Kapo) Kapral, Sandi (Dot) Smith, Cindy (Greenbean) Anderson, Linda (Buttons) Lewis, Connie (Rainbow) Hagan, Debbie Beasly, Jim Jim Hashimoto, and Maryanne (Polka) Becker. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to entertaining sick, disabled or disadvantaged children throughout New Jersey and Eastern Pennyslvania. Kapo's goal was to teach people to be great clowns and learn how to make the world smile. Sadly, Kapo passed away in 1998 but his legacy lives on as Kapo's Gang continues to welcome new clowns and teach the wonderful art of clowning in his memory. We currently have between 45-50 clown members and 7 junior joeys who are learning the profession at a great age. Kapo's Gang has volunteered to entertain for organizations such as the Kelly Anne Dolan Memorial Fund, Katie's Krusaders and the National Race for the Cure, just to name a few.
If you are interested in having some of our clowns involved in your next fundraiser, contact Sandi Smith at 856-866-2493.
Why join Kapo's Gang? Besides the fact that we have FUN............
Kapo's Gang has many award winning clowns in the areas of skits, balloons, face painting and makeup. We also have members who have been inducted into the Mummer's Parade Hall of Fame, along with many caring clowns who work in our neighboring hospitals.
If you are interested in clowning or are currently clowning and would like to get involved with others in the clown community, we invite you to attend our next meeting!
